BIOGRAPHY
Samantha Rosenwald is a visual artist working primarily with paint and coloured pencil. By threading contemporary culture, visual puns, and the dogmas of art history, she creates absurd, personal, and darkly funny portraits that illustrate what it feels like to be alive.
Rosenwald's work has been exhibited in several solo exhibitions, including Exquisite Corpse, Arsenal Contemporary, New York (2021); Lepidoptery, Eve Leibe Gallery, London (2021); Penis Envy, Annarumma Gallery, Naples, Italy (2020); A Freudian Nightmare; An Onlooker Gasps, Ballon Rouge Club, Brussels (2020); Schadenfreude, Steve Turner, Los Angeles (2020) and Soft Opening, MCLXVII, San Francisco (2019). Rosenwald's work has also been featured in group exhibitions, such as Bad Girls, WALLSPACEPLEASE, Dubai (2021); Happy Hour, Eve Leibe Gallery, London (2021); New Now, Xiao Museum, Rizao, China (2021); Sweet Jane in Fields of Daisies, Phillips Auction House Dancing in Dark Times, Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, London (2021); Family Business, JDJ: Tribeca, New York (2021); Our World, Steve Turner, Los Angeles (2020) and No Time Like the Present, PUBLIC Gallery, London (2020) among others.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Vassar College, New York (2016) and A Master of Fine Art from California College of the Arts, San Francisco (2018).
