BIOGRAPHY

Miju Lee studied industrial design at the uni and after that, she became a product designer. When Lee was younger, she just loved “painting” as it is. But once she became a designer, Lee started to treat it like a “tool” to explain her design work. She started to question herself as a designer. Miju Lee had the urge to create long-lasting beautiful work.

“I think everyday life seems trivial but powerful. On the surface, people appear like they are experiencing different emotions as everyone is in different situations. But I think if you explore each person’s roots, there may be similar joy, sadness, or enlightenment at the centre. I want to share my thoughts and views of ordinary lives through my work.

My work begins with capturing what I see as it is. It's kind of like a play.While mixing objects and the space they belong to in a painting, I discover formative rules and repeats them or breaks them.Through this playful process, it starts with an ordinary scene, but it moves towards a point where it becomes a uncanny and somewhat ambiguous landscape. My dreams are also great resources for my inspiration. “

Miju Lee draw faces — that human faces have a lot of stories in them. For example, If you blur someone’s eyes, the person’s identity becomes anonymous. If you have a different angle of a smile, it could indicate a different meaning.
