BIOGRAPHY

Jordy Kerwick is a self-taught artist working mainly with paintings. His work portrays domestic settings in flattened compositions of pattern and colour. Using vivid tones and bold brushstrokes on top of the coarse collage, he builds richly textured surfaces of compelling depths. Through his paintings, Kerwick navigates the interplay between colours and forms as well as flatness and depth.

Kerwick’s work has been exhibited in several solo exhibitions, including The Three Month Dream, Piermarq, Sydney (2020); Sweep the legs, Johnny, Pt. 2 Gallery, California (2019); Macro/Micro; Paintings of Love and Hate, TW Fine Art, Brisbane, Australia (2019); Ich Bin DB Cooper, Galerie Rompone, Cologne (2019); A Declaration of all things Irreverent, Beers, London (2019); Fatal Purity, Masahiro Maki Gallery, Tokyo (2019) and I love you. Whats your name, Anna Zorina Gallery, New York (2019). His work has also been featured in numerous group exhibitions, such as Abstraction/Figuration, Kunstbygningen I Vra Museum, Hojskolevej, Denmark (2020); Don’t Give a Damns, Marian Cramer Gallery, Amsterdam (2020); Limbo, Everyday Galerie, Antwerp (2020); Paradiso, Mini Galerie, Amsterdam (2020); NBB #1, NBB Gallery, Berlin (2020); Dancing in the Dark, Galerie 42B, Paris (2019); Comme-ci, comme-ca, Andenken Gallery, Lisbon (2019); One Night Only, Hunted Projects, Edinburgh (2019); Favourites, Ambacher Contemporary, Munich (2019); Angry Boys Part Two, Det Ny Kastet Museum, Denmark (2018) and Internal Voices, Galerie Wolfsen, Aalborg, Denmark (2018) among others.
