BIOGRAPHY

Humberto Poblete-Bustamante is an established, mid-career contemporary artist. The 1980s inspired him, an era of developing global capitalism, political disruption, worldwide mass media, social classes and unique music and fashion, characterised by hip hop and electronic pop music. These aspects had a heavy impact on the generation of artists growing up during this time. The fall of the Berlin Wall signified the end of the Cold War, yet the African Famine also marked the era. During this time, leading art movements included Neo Geo, The Pictures Generation and Neo-Expressionism.

Poblete-Bustamante's work has been included in several solo and duo exhibitions, Including  1+1+1+1+1+1, Galería Alegría, Barcelona (2021); Le singe qui transpire, Galerie Julien Cadet, Montpellier, France (2021); ARCO Madrid, Galería Alegría, Madrid (2020); THE BLACK SHEEP EATS THE BEST GRASS, Galería Alegría in Madrid (2019); CODE Art Fair 2018, Copenhagen (2018); Feria ARCO 2018, Madrid (2018) and PARADIGMATIC INTENTIONS, The Family Morning. Phantom Projects Contemporary, France (2016), among others.

His work has also been featured in various group exhibitions, such as Paperworks Vol. II, NBB Gallery, Berlin (2021); Room service, Litz & NBB Gallery, Hotel Ruth, Stockholm (2021); Eccentric Riders, Galerie Julien Cadet, Paris (2021); Now Now, curated by Ed Broner, Breach, Miami (2021); and Slightly Seared on the reality grill, Unit 5 Gallery, London (2018).
