BIOGRAPHY
Aokabi Saya was born in Japan in 1997. The artist creates paintings largely based on characters from animated films produced in Japan around the time of her birth. Her paintings often feature forms and iconography reminiscent of his pioneering work, reflecting the importance of these influences and— in a broader sense— the huge role that illustrative storytelling plays in the dissemination of values and culture in Japan.
