BIOGRAPHY
Adriana Oliver’s cinematic, neo-pop portraits explore identity in an ever-changing world. She methodically breaks images down to their fundamental and most potent forms. With elegant graphic sensibility, her faceless portraits and blank silhouettes examine societal expectations in modern-day life. Started as a photographer, Oliver then transitioned to painting for the freedom it granted her over the image and, by extension, the greater capacity for storytelling.
She works primarily with acrylic on canvas or wood panels and translates her pared-back compositions into sculpture and relief.
Her work has been exhibited in several solo exhibitions, including Echoes, Moosey Art, London (2021); One Brief Moment, Dopeness Art Lab, Taipei, Taiwan (2020); Ordinary People, Gallery Target, Tokyo (2019); All The Lonely People, Galería Houssein Jarouche, Sao Paulo, Brazil (2019) and A Night Thought, Duran Mashaal Gallery, Montreal (2018). Her work has also been included in group exhibitions, such as Família, WOAW Gallery, Hong Kong (2021); WOP, Avant Arte x WOAW Gallery, Hong Kong (2021); Nice Guys Live Forever, Moosey Art, London (2021); Dream Makers, PADRE Gallery, New York (2020); Lineage Joanne Artman Gallery, New York (2019); Secret Fresh Gallery, Manila, Philippines (2019); Abv Gallery, Atlanta (2019); The Urban Experience, Artual Gallery, Beirut (2018); Summer!, Duran Mashaal Gallery, Montreal (2018); Looking Forward, Galleria Torbandena, Trieste, Italy (2017); XYZ, Galerie Katapult, Basel, Switzerland (2016) and Hay Hill Gallery, London (2015).
